In 2002 we went to the Netherlands and purchased six KWPN weanlings. These were from a outstanding mare lines and top sires. We purchased fillies by dressage sires such as Jazz, Quattro, Floiristan, and Welt Hit II . We also purchased a filly by the jumper sire Hamlet. We returned in the two subsequent years and purchased six more weanlings each year. From these we selected seven females for brood mares. In the later years we purchased some colts from sires such as Lord Sinclair, Rousseau and Orame. We used the colts and the females not selected for breeding to establish a training program. In 2006 we produced the first foals from our mares using imported frozen semen.
We attended the KWPN/NA keurings and were successful with the imported Vuzarma , Veganeta, Wiseman and Wingar placing near the top for NA.
Later our home bred Gemma, Fizzarma, Katrina Rose and Demarko were in top fives in their classes.
From our imported breeding stock we developed outstanding sport horses. Wiseman, Demarko and Ikorus in dressage and Charlton and G Man in jumping all achieved top scores for our farm and their new owners. Others have gone on to new owners and have become part of their equine journey.
We continue to produce both dressage and jumper foals, now over 60, from both fresh and frozen semen. We offer these for sale and the ones that stay on our farm are trained to develop the best of their talents. They are then offered for sale. We have our foals in many Canadian provinces as far as BC and in many states in the USA.
We house the horses in groups and have large pastures on our 200 ha farm. The foals grow up in their groups and develop the socials skills that they can only learn from growing up as horses.
Our family has been involved in this enterprise with Martha providing training & breeding advice earlier and now providing her services as an equine veterinarian has made our frozen AI program successful.
Our niece Megan was an integral part of our development and continues to ride Galaxy, a NPF horse.
Now the next generation is involved with granddaughter Victoria developing as a skilled horseperson and the other three, Evelynn, Keith and Josephine all becoming involved.
We also have welcomed a large number of summer students from Europe and many provinces of Canada. They have brought their skills and hard work to develop our horses and contribute to our success.
New Perth Farms is located in the lush rolling countryside of
